Abstract

One of the greatest challenges to the adoption of XR in education is the lack of an easyto-use resource for identifying high-quality immersive materials and, perhaps even more important, training in how to use them. This is the problem a group of iLRN members decided to tackle following last year’s conference. After considering various options, the group developed a project to create the “iLRN XR Resource Exchange,” a highly accessible database of educational XR materials. Recognizing that the iLRN membership offers a unique resource for achieving this goal, the group proposes the idea of a flipped workshop. The intention is to draw on the expertise of the iLRN community to assemble a curated collection of resources that have proven to be useful in real educational settings, and to capture participants’ opinions of the strengths and weaknesses of their recommended materials in structured use-case scenarios. The resulting collection does not aim to be exhaustive, but rather an expert selection accompanied by rich, searchable metadata that educators can use for practical guidance, and developers can use as models to emulate. The workshop also aims to evaluate the usability of the Resource Exchange prototype interface. Direct input activities, structured brainstorming, small group discussions and informal presentations will be used to capture participants’ recommendations and evaluations.
