The healthcare field is increasingly adopting innovative strategies, such as simulation tools enhanced with gamification, visual realism, and immersive technologies, to make the training of medical procedures more engaging and effective. This study aimed to develop and evaluate the VIDA Odonto, a gamified dental anesthesia simulator in an immersive virtual reality environment. The development process followed several stages: starting with a systematic review, identifying user requirements, designing the system architecture, incorporating gamification principles, and conducting usability evaluations. Testing with dental students demonstrated that the gamified simulator led to improved performance during the simulated procedures. Usability assessments further indicated that the gamified approach increased user engagement and encouraged more frequent use of the simulator.
